What is a B grade worth?
A B is worth 3.0 grade points on the standard US 4.0 scale, and usually maps to a percentage range of 83–86%. That grade-point value is what gets averaged (weighted by credits) across your courses to produce your GPA.
How a B affects your GPA
Each course pulls your GPA toward that course’s grade points. A B pulls yours toward 3.0: if your current GPA is higher, a B drags it down; if it’s lower, a B lifts it — and the more credits the course is worth, the bigger the effect. See exactly how with the GPA calculator.
